25 Baby Weaning Essentials to Kickstart Your Weaning Adventure
Tableware:
- Baby Cutlery – Look for cutlery sets specifically designed for weaning like our Good Square Meal Baby Weaning Cutlery, with easy-to-hold handles to help your little one practice self-feeding.
- Baby Plates – Weaning can get messy so opt for plates with raised edges to minimise spills. We have a variety of options including our Earth First Baby Plates.
- Baby Bowls – In the early stages, bowls with high sides are more practical than plates to help contain the inevitable mess. Even better, our Suction Bowls will help prevent tableware going flying!
- Sippy Cups – For your babies first sippy cup choose one with a soft silicone spout for little ones who are teething, a non-spill teat to prevent mess and easy-to-grip handles. We have designed our Mini Grip N’ Sip Baby’s First Cup specifically to meet these needs.
- Tumblers – When transitioning from a bottle, go for a lightweight but sturdy tumbler because yes it will be thrown on the floor at least once!
- Tupperware – Having a set of baby tupperware is perfect for saving leftover weaning recipes for later meals.
- Storage Pots – Like our Store & Go Food Pots are great for storing snacks or meals on the go, offering easy access while out and about.
- Nibbler – Ideal for transitioning from purees to solids, a nibbler filled with fruit or veggies helps your baby explore new flavours and textures safely. Our Nuby Nibbler comes with a hygienic cover which is perfect for travel.
Misc:
- Coverall Bib -Babies are notoriously messy and often require two to four outfit changes a day! A Coverall Bib keeps them (and their clothes) clean during mealtime, reducing the need for even more outfit changes.
- Catch Bib – The perfect option for travel when you don't have room to bring a bigger bib along- our Catch All Bibs roll up easily for compact storage.
- Waterproof Bib – A must for weaning as they can be wiped clean after each meal, especially when transitioning from bottle to tumbler!
- High Chair – Choose a high chair that fits your dining space while providing comfort and safety for your baby.
- Messy Mat – Protect your floors by placing a messy mat under the high chair to catch food spills, saving you the need to mop your floors after each baby weaning meal, as that could get very tiring.
Appliances:
- Veggie Peeler – Using a vegetable peeler will save you time in the kitchen when prepping your baby weaning meals, we all know that time is precious as a busy parent.
- Saucepan – You will already have plenty of these in your cupboards but if you’re looking to buy some extras ahead of the weaning journey make sure you have a good selection of saucepan sizes.
- Steamer – Steamers are a great time-saving gadget when it comes to baby weaning. Not only are they great for cooking fruit and vegetables to the perfect level of softness they also preserve natural goodness in food.
- Sieve – Useful for draining food or pureeing cooked veggies to ensure a smooth texture without lumps.
- Blender – If you don’t already own one, a blender is essential for making smooth purees and sauces. It’s also a handy kitchen tool to have for all the family.
- Potato Masher – This everyday kitchen is an item that you will find yourself reaching for a lot during the baby weaning journey.
- Steriliser – Save time with a steriliser, like our 3-Minute UV Steriliser, which works without water and eliminates waiting for items to dry. For on-the-go use, we offer a Portable UV Steriliser with a rechargeable battery.
- Ice Pop Trays – While ice pop trays are great in the summer for making frozen treats for your little one, they’re also perfect for baby weaning. Made too much sauce or puree? freeze it into cubes for another meal to be defrosted.
- Freezer Bags – In addition to tupperware and storage pots, freezer bags are an excellent space-saver when storing baby weaning food prep or leftovers.
- Labels – Ensure everything is clearly labelled with the contents and date to keep food organised and safe for future meals.
