No bake Easter nests (Suitable from 12+ months)

This weekend it’s Easter, and you might be wondering how to get young children involved without resorting to a chocolate egg.

Well, wonder no more, we’ve teamed up with baby weaning expert Shikha Gill, founder of My Little Food Critic, to bring you a no bake Easter nest recipe that’s suitable for children aged 12 months and up.

No bake Easter nests

Servings: 8-10 nests

Prep time: 10 minutes

Cook time: 5 minutes

Ingredients:

  • ½ cup smooth peanut butter
  • ¼ cup honey
  •  ¼ cup coconut oil
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 tbsp cacao powder
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • ¼ unsweetened desiccated coconut
  • Mini eggs (optional for older kids / adults)

Steps:

1. Line a baking sheet with baking paper and set aside.

2. Heat peanut butter, honey, coconut oil and vanilla in a pan over medium-low heat, stirring until it’s combined.

3. In a mixing bowl, add the oats, coconut and cacao powder, followed by the honey mixture. Stir until well combined.

4. Scoop out about 1 tbsp of the mixture and roll into a ball. Then, using your thumb or finger, press into the middle to create an indent to make the shape of a nest.

5. Chill in the fridge for about 10 / 15 minutes.

6. Served at room temperature, topped with chocolate eggs for older kids, or you could add toy chicks for younger kids.

7. Store in an airtight container in the fridge.
