PREPARING TO BECOME A MUM OF TWO AFTER LOSS

Around a year and a half ago, just before Ollie was 1, my partner and I decided we were ready to try for another bundle of love. I got pregnant with Ollie pretty quickly but this time it took almost 6 months. I think when you actively try it usually takes that little bit longer. At around 8 weeks pregnant we were told our baby wasn’t in the right place and unfortunately I was suffering an ectopic pregnancy which resulted in emergency surgery. The pain and suffering and felt was really hard, I would be lying if I said I was strong through it all.

Ten months later I'm sat here at 13 weeks pregnant writing this blog and my heart is just so full and it's all very bittersweet. Despite obviously still wondering why the ectopic pregnancy happened. I am so unbelievably grateful that I can now prepare to be a mummy to two.

Baby scan at 7 weeks & 2 days

When we first found out it was such a nerve racking time having to wait for blood tests and scans to make sure baby was in the right place. At week 7 we got a clear view of our beautiful growing baby and wow what a feeling

We are so ready for another bundle of love and Ollie is just as ready to become a big brother. He dotes on his baby cousin and is constantly looking after his baby dollies. We have started preparing slowly and plan to get Ollie potty trained and off his dummies before baby arrives in August. We are taking it slow though as I don’t want him to feel overwhelmed.

The fun starts when baby arrives and I can’t wait. When Ollie plays with his toy babies, he asks us to change the baby’s nappy, bottle feeds them and ahh it's just amazing to see I can’t wait to see him with his baby brother or sister.

At times I do feel nervous about having another little one, a newborn and an almost 3 year old is scary but I am ready for the challenge. My heart has doubled in size and I can’t wait to be in that newborn bubble again finally.
