This recipe is part of our Good Square Meal campaign in collaboration with FareShare, the UK’s biggest food waste charity, to fund the distribution of up to 250,000 meals to children who need them most.
As part of the campaign, we’ve collaborated with baby weaning expert Shikha Gill, founder of My Little Food Critic, to create healthy baby weaning recipes.
These quick and easy finger sandwiches are packed with flavour, and veggies and are so delicious. A fun spin on the traditional afternoon tea sandwiches. Christmas shapes are of course optional.
Finger sandwiches
Servings: 3

Cook time: 0 minutes
Ingredients:
- 6 slices of bread
- 1 tbsp cream cheese
- 1 strawberry, finely sliced/diced
- 1 tbsp hummus
- 1/4 carrot, finely grated
- 1 tsp unsalted butter
- 1/4 cup cheese, grated or finely sliced
- 1 inch chunk of cucumber, finely cut
- 1 tbsp hemp hearts
Steps:
1. Spread the cream cheese, hummus and butter each onto a slice of the bread.
2. Place the diced strawberries over the cream cheese and sprinkle of some of the hemp hearts.
3. Place the grated carrot over the the hummus and top with some of the cheese and hemp hearts.
4. Place the remaining cheese on top of the butter, followed by the cucumbers and remaining hemp hearts.
5. Top with the remaining pieces of bread.
6. Use cookie cutters for fun shapes or slice into 2 finger width strips.
7.Serve and enjoy.
