We’ve teamed up with baby weaning expert Shikha Gill, founder of My Little Food Critic, to bring you this baby weaning recipe, bringing sweet potato into tasty burger form.


Loaded with fibre, plant protein and iron! These are perfect for tiny hands.

Ingredients

  • 1 medium sweet potato, peeled and chopped
  • 1 can chickpeas or 1 cup cooked chickpeas
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1/2 tsp ground cumin
  • 1/2 tsp ground coriander
  • 1/4 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder
  • Pinch of black pepper

Steps

Step 1

Steam cook the sweet potato until soft and tender

Step 2

Mash the cooked sweet potato and combine with the chickpeas, spices and olive

Step 3

Mash everything together until smooth with a little texture

Step 4

Shape the mixture into small, soft patties

Step 5

Heat olive oil in a pan over a low-medium heat

Step 6

Cook for 3-4 minutes on each side until lightly golden, or bake at 180°C for 12-15 minutes

How to serve

Serve warm with yogurt, hummus, avocado, or alongside rice or vegetables. Store in the fridge for up to 48 hours or freeze for up to 2 months.
